How to Install a Canvas Frame: A Step-by-Step Guide

This step-by-step guide shows how to assemble the wooden inner frame, secure your canvas, and fit the aluminum-alloy outer frame. Follow the photos and short demonstration videos below. Wall hanging is not covered in this guide.
What You’ll Need
- The supplied wooden inner-frame pieces and cross braces
- The canvas artwork
- The aluminum-alloy outer frame
- The fasteners, screws, and metal clips supplied with your frame kit
- A hammer, fastening tool, and driver
- A clean, flat work surface
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Assemble the Wooden Inner Frame
Arrange the wooden frame members and cross braces, then join them as shown. Seat each corner and brace before moving on.

Step 2: Secure the Canvas to the Wooden Frame
Center the canvas over the assembled wooden frame and check its position. Fold the canvas over the frame edge as shown, then use the supplied fasteners and the fastening tool shown in the video to secure the edge. Work around the frame while keeping the canvas aligned.

Step 3: Fit the Aluminum-Alloy Outer Frame
Place the canvas-mounted wooden frame inside the aluminum-alloy outer frame. Position the supplied metal clips at the back and tighten their screws with the driver shown. Check that the inner assembly sits evenly and that each clip is seated.
Before You Finish
- Check that the wooden joints and braces are seated before attaching the canvas.
- Recheck the canvas alignment as you fasten its edge.
- Fit the inner assembly into the aluminum frame before tightening the rear clips.
- Use the hardware supplied with your frame; do not force parts that do not align.
